Carousels give you every slide
A carousel can hold up to twenty images, and Instagram offers no way to save even one of them. Here each slide resolves as its own file, so you can take the third image without downloading the other nineteen.
Slides stay in posting order, so a numbered set — a recipe, a step-by-step, a chart series — comes back in the right sequence.
What resolution you actually get
Instagram re-compresses uploads and caps the long edge at 1080px for standard posts. That is what you receive: the served file, not the photographer’s original. A downloader promising the full-resolution original is promising something Instagram never published.
Profile pictures
Profile photos are stored at a smaller size than feed images and cannot be enlarged without quality loss. Paste a profile URL and you get the largest version Instagram serves.

Can I take a single image from a carousel?
Yes. Every slide resolves separately, with its own download button.
Do photos lose sharpness when saved?
No. The file is copied exactly as Instagram serves it — no re-compression happens here.
Are profile pictures available in full resolution?
You get the largest size Instagram serves, which is smaller than a feed image. Nothing can recover more.
Does saving affect my account?

What format do images come back as?
